Creative Therapies
Sometimes talking is difficult; sometimes words aren’t enough.
I offer creative therapies to help you explore, process and gain clarity.
Do I need to be creative?
You don’t need any creative experience at all; it’s often more letting go of expectations, and engaging in the process more than the end product.
I work with adults of all ages, from all walks of life, who are experiencing challenges, changes or conflict in their lives.
How can Creative Therapies help?
Creative Therapies can add another dimension to the way we explore challenges and feelings in the therapy. My approach and experience can help in a number of areas including, but not limited to;
- Engaging with intuition and creativity
- Access unconscious material
- Gain deeper connection to yourself
- Develop greater self awareness
- Process feelings and experiences
- Replenish and restore energy
Creative Therapies that I offer include:
Sand play
I offer a safe, creative space to explore feelings and thoughts that may be too challenging to talk about / too hard to verbalise. Sand play is a non-verbal, creative therapeutic approach centred around creating three-dimensional worlds contained in a sand tray, using objects, small figures and sometimes water.
“In play we can explore in a free and protected space”. Dora M. Kallf
Imagery work
Imagery is strongly connected to emotions which either motivate us or prove a barrier to change. Working with images we deepen awareness and connect to our own dynamic capacity for growth. Imagery work can be through therapeutic techniques or facilitation of your own images; we can also work with images you bring from dreams.
Story and metaphor
The telling of stories and sharing of metaphors to describe experiences are ancient means through which humans have communicated and connected. Stories are powerful in mobilising energy, creating hope and creating images to work with. In therapy, stories are offered by me and you may bring your own. I will also introduce ways of using metaphor to explore experiences and connect to change.
Creative Media
Using paint, collage, drawing and clay can help you explore and express without the need to talk or explain. Such work allows for expression without the need for reason, can clear the mind of over thinking and is valuable in many areas of therapeutic work.
